A tornado near Potosi was confirmed on weather radar. Residents caught numerous videos and photos of the twister soon after.
POTOSI, Mo. — Soon after weather radar confirmed a tornado in the St. Louis region, multiple residents throughout Potosi flooded 5 On Your Side Weather Impact meteorologists with video and pictures of the twister.
Meteorologists at the National Weather Service confirmed a tornado was on the ground near Potosi and was moving toward populated areas in De Soto and Hillsboro. A FEMA storm shelter has also been opened in Potosi, according to area police.
Multiple people throughout Washington County sent 5 On Your Side media of the twister, including one viewer who recorded a minutes-long video of the twister.

The 5 On Your Side Weather Impact Meteorologist Team issued a Weather Impact Alert throughout Wednesday as strong to severe storms are forecast to develop during the afternoon and early evening. Strong winds, hail, and possibly a few tornadoes are expected with the strongest storms from about noon into the early evening hours.
More tornado warnings in St. Louis region communities are possible throughout Wednesday, as the entire area was placed under a tornado watch through 4 p.m.
